29 Feb - Travel to the Kelly Annex to Lackland Airforce Base in San Antonio, stayed overnight at Kelly Field Club.
1 Mar - Board C-5 aircraft to Travis AFB, stayed overnight at Westwinds Inn.
2 Mar - Board C-5 aircraft to Hickam AFB, rent Enterprise car, went to Kaneohe Bay Marine Corps Base Hawaii (MCBH), had Mongolian BBQ at Officers Club, stayed the week in Transient Quarters.
3 Mar - Toured the east side of Oahu north of Kaneohe Bay, visited Nut Farm, took pictures of surf.
4 Mar - Joe and I drove up hill behind quarters and took pictures of Kaneohe Bay MCB. Went to Polynesian Cultural Center for tour, luau, and show.
5 Mar - Went to Hula Bowl Flea Market, bought Wasabe Peas. Had lunch at Anna Miller's.
6 Mar - Toured west side of Oahu, Pam and I climbed hill behind quarters, took pictures.
7 Mar - Visited Hale Koa Military Hotel, Waikiki. Ate at Anna Miller's again to get free pies.
8 Mar - Toured U.S.S. Arizona. Toured north end of Oahu, Dole pineapple farm.
9 Mar - Visited Nu'uanu Pali State Wayside where Kamehameha I won victory over Hawaiian Islands in battle where 4oo warriors were forced off the cliffs. Boarded Norwegian Wind for 10 day cruise.
10 Mar - Landed at Hilo on the big island, Hawaii. Took the 'Lava Bed Viewing' tour. Last tour we took from the ship excursion desk. Millie fell and only I made it to the red hot lava bed.
11/12 Mar - At sea.
13 Mar - Landed at Fanning Island, Republic of Kiribati.
14/15 Mar - At sea.
16 Mar - Nawiliwili, Kauai, Hawaii. Took tour bus to shops and beach, saw Monk seal.
17 Mar - Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii. Rented car from Hertz, found millie's fanny pack, drove up to the crater on Haleakala. At 10,000 feet elevation, Haleakala is above one third of the earth's atmosphere.
18 Mar - Kona, Hawaii. Took tour bus to K-Mart. Joe and Millie went on glass bottom boat tour.
19 Mar - Landed at Honolulu, taxi to Hickam AFB, checked flights to Travis, only the Kelly C-5 scheduled the next day. Rented car from Budget, Bob and Scott, who had been waiting for a flight since 16 Mar, drove me to Honolulu Airport. Went back to Kaneohe Bay MCBH for the night. Couple in hall of quarters mentioned 7 AM show time for flight to Fort Worth.
20 Mar - Went to Kaneohe Bay MCB terminal at 4 AM to check on flight. Went back to get Pam, Joe and Millie at 6:15, returned to terminal at 6:45, no breakfast. Gave car keys to Scott to return car to airport, should have got his last name. C-40 took off at 8:45 AM, no box lunch. Landed at Ft Worth Joint Reserve Base in 6 hours, got room at Combined Bachelor Housing. Joe's Sister-In-Law took us to airport to rent car.
21 Mar - Drove to Kelly, picked up my car and turned in rental car. Drove back to San Benito.
